Quality music and production, and works as a lullaby for us Baby Einstein: Lullaby Classics Great music -- our twins and we love it. I can see how it may not work as a lullaby for some though, since some of the music is pretty animated. Nevertheless we include the whole album on our set list for lullaby music and it works great -- its a nice addition to our other lullaby music. I was blown away with how incredibly tight the band is. The extended length songs may not be good for FM radio, they are great pieces to just put on your headphones and get lost in the different sounds, tempos and rhythms. Steve Halpern is a genious when it comes to creating music that helps me clear my mind. This CD makes it easy and fills me with a sense of serenity. I also found a CD that does the same thing for my daughter. I put Music for Healing on for meIndigo Dreams: Kids Relaxation Music Decreasing Stress, Anxiety and Anger, improve sleep. and my daughter puts Indigo Dreams:Kid's Relaxation Music on and we both de-stress in our own musical haven. As we near 2012 it is clear that this album was written to express to and tantalize the whole world with the actuality of how the world will be 100 years after all the planets in our solar system align. The Aztecs were great astronomers and mathematicians. POSTED AT FRIDAY, AUGUST 20, 2010 39 COMMENTS Fun to sing along with! Songs in French for Children My only complaint is that the lyrics aren't included with the disc. My intention with this music was to use it as a supplement in teaching my children French, and the lyrics would have been very useful.
Otherwise, it is a wonderful collection of songs and my kids ask to hear it over and over again. POSTED AT SATURDAY, AUGUST 14, 2010 46 COMMENTS The Greatest Live Album In Rock and Roll Delaney & Bonnie On Tour With Eric Clapton A live document in any genre should be soulful, exciting, studded with a few flubbed notes that serve as inspiration and stand as a piece of art and entertainment that doesn't feel like a cash-in on a current trend. This satisfies all obligations and I couldn't be happier.
The premier white-soul act that ever was (D&B) is aided by one of the all time greatest bands. Eric Clapton does himself justice in having his name on the cover for he is at a peak of using his pop intelligence to keep any possible showboating in check. This works perfectly into the context of the music. Dave Mason also proves himself as a damn fine picker. Of course, Delaney and Bonnie are rightfully the headliners. There's choice material hitherto unheard. Delaney performs a touching tribute to Robert Johnson entitled "Poor Elijah". Bonnie is passionately unadorned on her "red light" moment. The FM single, "Coming Home", affords hope and renewal emphasized by Eric's tear-like sounding slide guitar. The first climax is "I Don't Want To Discuss It" with D&B and the band at their most energetic and combustible best. Then there's the rousing finale of the "Little Richard Medley" that just rips the joint. Hands down, this is the greatest and wildest live album in all of rock and roll. Play it loud! POSTED AT TUESDAY, JULY 06, 2010 109 COMMENTS Rush - Phase 1 - FLY BY NIGHT Fly By Night This is the second Rush album in their Catalog. This is the first featuring Neil Peart on Drums and writing the lyrics. I give the entire album 4 and 1/2 stars, and list my comments below per track.
ANTHEM - classic rush at its best. A song that is featured live still to this day, and it holds the test of time. Based on the works of Ayn Rand, this is by far one of the most well known of this albums' tracks and a great way to start off the album. BEST I CAN - the same 70's style Rush as on their first album with Peart lyrics now. Nothing great but not bad. BENEATH, BETWEEN & BEHIND - very catchy 70's Progressive rock tune. pretty rocking in my opinion. BY-TOR and the SNOW DOG - a song that even Rush has gone, "what were we thinking?" on the lyrics, yet very groovy and a glimpse into the future that will become a very epic and story telling Rush in future albums. This is actually got a cool guitar section where one of Alex's guitars is making a growling dog sound during the "battle" sequence in the song. And the 7/4 section is always a blast to try to count and play, in my opinion. FLY BY NIGHT - the other very well known song from this album. A great song with an awesome guitar solo. A fan favorite. MAKING MEMORIES - Catchy acoustic guitar backing this happy groove song. Again, not a bad song, just not Awesome. RIVENDELL - An Acoustic ballad based on the land of Rivendell from the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit, with haunting guitar swells coming from the right as Geddy sings into the left and the finger-picked guitar up the middle. IN THE END - This song sums up the album. It begins with the acoustic again and Geddy singing beautifully. Then, once Alex cranks up his Gibson and hits the main riff, and then the band enters and the album exits as it entered, with powerful 70's rock from Rush. This is not the best that Rush has to offer in the catalog, but this is a great album for the first phase of what is still to this day, the greatest Progressive Rock band in the world. 1 - 2448 |
