Good Value
Step 2 WaterWheel Activity Play Table
I love Step 2 products. They are sturdy and are a great value in my opinion. This table was a steal for twenty-eight bucks and I highly recommend it to others. It can be used inside (with toys, not water) and outside (with water) for optimal fun! Great way to get a water toy that the dogs can't play in too!

Another great Sony clock.
Sony ICF-C318 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio with Dual Alarm (Black)
Purchased an older model 15 years ago. Just needed a new clock for another room. Easy to use, great for a college room. Large numbers, just wish you could dim the amount of light. Radio is okay, no Bose but will do.

Product performed as marketed
Datacomm Electronics 45-0001-WH Gang Recessed Cable Plate (White)
Not much to say except this wall plate did what it said. I found the quality of the plastic to be high and not flimsy like other pass-through plates I've tried.

Great speaker stands
Atlantic Satellite 77305018 2 Speaker Stands (Black)
I recieved more than I thought. These stands are heavy duty and really easy to assemble. The base is weighted and they are made of metal. I would recommend these to anyone who needs them.

Energy savings? Yes, while they last
GE 13-Watt Energy SmartTM - 8 Pack - 60 watt ouput
I bought two 8-packs at my shopping club a couple of years ago. I needed them to replace 8 incandescent bulbs in the basement where, with the exception of the area where my home office is located, I didn't need very bright lights. The second carton was bought for 'spares' and because they were on sale at the time I made the purchase. Two years later, the spares carton has 3 bulbs left, indicating that 5 out of 8 have burned out. This tells me that the 5-years/8000 hours life expectancy claim is wildly optimistic, to use a mild term.

My personal experience with these bulbs is as follows:

- the light they produce - yellow, not very bright is more or less on par with what you get of a 60W incandescent, maybe a little less than a traditional 60W.
- they do save energy for as long as they last - given their short lifespan in my basement, not sure if they pay for themselves
- quality seems to be an issue - 5 out of 8 burned out before 2 years - all 8 subjected to about the same conditions (they all go on/off at the same time
- the claim of 8000 hours or 5 years life expectancy is clearly way off-base - perhaps GE should make their test data available
- the price at the time I am writing this review is competitive with what I saw at my shopping club.

This may come close to comparing apples to oranges but I must say that I am very happy with the Feit Electric ESL40TN/D 42-Watt Compact Fluorescent High-Wattage Bulb, Daylight of which I am using 2 in the same basement, in my 'office' area and I bought 2 more a few months ago for the study. I paid a premium for them and I've only used them for a little less than one year at the time I write this (Feb. 2010) so the fact that none has burned out yet is not 'proof' but... time with tell.

I hesitate between 2 and 3 stars - 2 stars means 'I don't like it' vs. 3 stars meaning 'it's okay'. My generous nature wins this time and it's 3 stars but GE needs to seriously look into the 'quality' thing or these CFL may discourage some people from adopting replacing their incandescent bulbs with the more efficient fluorescents.

Great for hiding wires behind a tv
Datacomm Electronics 45-0002-WH Gang Recessed Cable Plate (White)
awesome product. perfect for what i was looking to do. couldn't find anything like this at hd or lowe's. just install the low voltage double gang box and then screw this on. couldn't be easier. i put one right behind the tv and one right above the trim directly below the tv. looks great.

Love this so I bought 2 of them - will fit on your nightstand
Sony ICF-C7IP Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone with Hidden Sliding Dock Tray
I originally bought this from Best Buy because I'd finally had it with my Griffin iPhone amplifier and decided that I needed a real speaker system for my office. I use several of the binaural beat/ambient music applications as productivity enhancers at work and required much better sound quality as well as the ability to charge my phone. Anyway, I read the reviews and decided to go to Best Buy to determine whether my phone would fit while still in the case. Well as with all other iPhone speaker systems (I also have a very expensive Altec Lansing Speaker/Dock), you cannot use the dock adapters if you want to keep the case on your iPhone 3G (I use the Sena Dockable red leather case). Although I'd rather be able to use the adapter, this isn't a major problem for me since the phone seems to stand up fine without it. You just have to make sure that you dock it correctly to avoid going into Airplane mode or receiving a non-compatible accessory error. The bottom line is that the fit isn't perfect but isn't any worse than any of the other top of the line speaker systems.

Once again, I digress: onto the product review. I love it. It is small and takes up very little desk space (9"x5") and it has a clock radio. This is very cool since I can't get good enough AT&T 3G reception in the office to run any of the Music streaming applications. I also like being able to see the time without looking at my watch. Anwyay, I was so impressed with this product after buying the first one two days ago, that I ran out and bought another one last night for my nightstand at home. My Altec Lansing 612 space guzzling monster speaker system (apartment dweller) still works fine but isn't compact enough to sit on my nightstand which is where it should be if I decide to use one of my many sleep inducing music applications. As for sound quality, I don't have the best hearing in the world so I might not be a good judge. For me, the sound quality on the Sony is equivalent to that of the Altec Lansing; however, someone with more sensitive ears might hear a difference that just wasn't apparent to me. Since it is less than half the price of the Altec and a third of the price for a Bose system, it is probably worth buying to see for yourself.

Regarding cost, I needed my systems quickly so I bought them both from Best Buy. The Best Buy price was approximately $20 more per unit than the price shown here on . If you can wait a few days to receive your system(s), I recommend purchasing from .
