Glee music
Glee: The Music, Volume 2
This show is awesome and so is the music! Can't wait for more of the show
so I can see what songs they're going to do!!

Hemingway's Whiskey
Kenny Chesney has played NFL football stadiums by the dozen, received 4 Country Music Association as well as 4 consecutive Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year Awards, had nineteen #1 singles, and has sold over 27 million albums and is the only artist in any genre to sell over a million tickets each of the past eight summers. When he made the decision to scale back from touring this year, it was in large part so that he could take the time he wanted to really enjoy the process of making a new studio record. Now, Chesney has released what will perhaps become his most enduring album, Hemingway s Whiskey.
With the lead single "The Boys of Fall," a song that encapsulates the potency of the high school football experience for anyone who s ever put on pads and played under the Friday night lights, Chesney started looking at the themes that have always marked his music and sought to make the songs richer, more nuanced and perhaps offer deeper insight to how they feel or shaped the singer (and the audience s) life.
Having recorded seven albums since his first Greatest Hits, now certified quadruple platinum, Chesney has sung a lot of songs, covered a lot of ground musically and defined a genre that celebrated growing up in small towns, loving the beach and knowing how to kick back. His records are not only the soundtrack of country radio in the 21st century, but are the sound of summer for people who plan their vacations around trips to go see Chesney somewhere each year.

Another Good One From Los Lobos
Tin Can Trust

Having had a chance to spin this record about 5 times now, my initial reaction holds: It's good, although I have to agree with many who comment that "All my bridges burning" is the weakest track.

I'm a big fan of all things Grateful Dead and the amazing Garcia/Hunter songs, the vast majority of which have more than stood the test of time, but "All my bridges" is below mediocre.

The rest of the album has a good mix of what Los Lobos have done best for about three decades now: Blues and garage rock influenced rock and roll, different styles of Mexican music, with a hint of psychedelics now and then.

As another reviewer mentioned, they can whip up some killer twin guitar jams, and the recording quality is outstanding.

Hope to catch them live again before too long, as they always put on a great show.

'Twas great for the movie, but...
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
I really enjoyed the movie. After seeing it, I quickly named it one of my favorite movies of all time. The music within the movie suited the movie well. But how does it stack up by itself? I decided to buy the soundtrack along with a couple of the original graphic novels to find this out.

After a run through this CD, I found that the Sex Bob-Omb songs (including the '8-bit' rendition at the end of the CD) were the ones that really stood out, and seeing they are a fake band in the movie, that's saying a lot. The Beck performances were pretty good as well. The rest of them... didn't gel all that well with me. Barring the "Crash and the Boys" tracks, which were deliberately made to be awful, I thought the ones meant to be taken seriously were uninspired and did little to stand out.

Is this soundtrack for you? Well, you should probably either make sure you're a fan of the music genre in question or make sure you particularly enjoyed the songs you heard during the movie. For me, the soundtrack went well with the movie, but not enough of the tracks stand well enough by themselves to make it more than a 'once in a while' listen. Your mileage may vary, but other than being happy that I supported a movie that didn't get the success it deserved in the box office, I won't get much listening thrills out of this.

A Thousand Suns (Limited Edition)(CD/DVD)
Limited Edition CD+DVD includes a 'making of the album' documentary & 'The Catalyst' music video.

'A Thousand Suns'

We were not making an album.

For months, we'd been destroying and rebuilding our band. The experiments that resulted filled the studio hard drive with diverse, abstract sounds. Amorphous echoes, cacophonous samples, and handmade staccato merged into wandering, elusive melody. Each track felt like a hallucination.

We didn't know if any of those unorthodox ideas could be incorporated into a traditional album, but we knew we didn't want our next album to be predictable. Sitting together in the same studio where we made our first album, all six of us voiced a commitment to going out on a limb, to making something truly daring. We asked ourselves: were we all earnestly willing, more than ever before, to abandon the precepts of commercial ambition in pursuit of what we believe to be honest art?

The inclination to begin writing conventional songs for a conventional album came and went. The temptation to adjust our creative vision to fulfill expectations beyond our studio walls yielded to the audacious ambition of what we hoped to achieve as a band. The two years of making 'A Thousand Suns' marked our exhilarating, surrealistic, and often challenging journey into the creative unknown.

On the eve of its completion, this body of work, assembled through unconscious inspiration and unmitigated exertion, has revealed to us notions both stirring and surprising. The album's personified imagery is neither dogma nor political premeditation. The emergent themes and metaphors illuminate a uniquely human story.

'A Thousand Suns' grapples with the personal cycle of pride, destruction, and regret. In life, like in dreams, this sequence is not always linear. And, sometimes, true remorse penetrates the devastating cycle. The hope, of course, springs from the notion that the possibility of change is born in our most harrowing moments.

Enjoy the music.

Linkin Park

Co-produced by Rick Rubin and Mike Shinoda.

Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time
The longest-running, most successful partnership in the history of rock takes flight anew, as legendary Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductees Carlos Santana and Clive Davis collaborate on the brand new concept album, GUITAR HEAVEN: THE GREATEST GUITAR CLASSICS OF ALL TIME. The album was co-produced by Carlos Santana and Clive Davis with tracks produced by Matt Serletic and Howard Benson.

Working from their collective encyclopedic knowledge of rock, Carlos Santana and Clive Davis devised a list of guitar-centric titles and then invited a Who s Who of guest vocalists to perform on every track. Singers range from Chris Cornell (on Led Zeppelin s Whole Lotta Love ), Pat Monahan (on Van Halen s Dance the Night Away ), Chester Bennington and Ray Manzarek (on The Doors Riders on the Storm ), Rob Thomas (on Cream s Sunshine Of Your Love), Scott Weiland (on the Rolling Stones Can t You Hear Me Knockin ), Chris Daughtry (on Def Leppard s Photograph ), Gavin Rossdale (on T. Rex s Bang A Gong ) to rapper Nas (on AC/DC s Back In Black ), veteran Joe Cocker (on Jimi Hendrix s Little Wing ), and more.

A very special dedication to George Harrison comes together on GUITAR HEAVEN..., with While My Guitar Gently Weeps, featuring singer india.arie and master cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Listening to the song, Olivia Harrison told Carlos, it made me jump for joy and cry at the same time.
