Best Choice Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Inkjet All-In-One Photo Printer (3747B002) I've only had this printer a short period but I'm very impressed. It's really not an all in 1 printer because you can not fax. Have not tried wireless yet. Installed easy. My first print task was pics and I could not believe how good they were. Let the pics dry as instructed and they do not curl. Printer takes a bit to warm up when first turned on. Prints quickly after warm up. Scanner works good, I had a light copy and it picked up all detail. Only down fall for me, you have to pull out the paper tray from under where the paper comes out, so you can't see how much paper you have left, can jam tray when placing back. Not worth $100 Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator I recently purchased this item for my college calculus class (no real choice in the matter). I'm no calculator expert but it seems to be able to do just about every calculation I can imagine. It graphs, it plots data, solves equations and more. The only problem I have with it is the price tag. $[...], really? My hatred is effectively summed up by this:
[...] Overall, the TI-84 is a good calculator and one of the lowest priced graphing models. Get it if you must. Buttons are a little loose but not a big deal. POSTED AT FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 03, 2010 234 COMMENTS Calculus and beyond. Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator I'm a master of the TI-83 calculator, and can do just about anything on it. I'm taking calculus courses in college, however, and the TI-83 doesn't support much mathematics past algebra.
First off, this thing kicks ass if you just need to know something without all the steps in between. It's very easy to factor, differentiate, anti-differentiate, solve equations, etc. My only major con is the learning curve involved with this calculator may be a little steep. Being in a college course, I have to show my steps in solving problems. This calculator won't do that for me, but it allows me to double check my answers. POSTED AT THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 09, 2010 184 COMMENTS I've only had it a week or two, but I already love it Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer (4206B002) Let me preface by saying I don't usually write reviews until I've had a product long enough to test it's longevity. That being said, I owned a Canon printer/copier prior to this one that lasted about 10 years. (Copier function still works, but printer drivers do not exist for it with newer operating systems. I needed something compatible with Windows 7.)
I really like the wireless feature of the MX870, though that was the most difficult part about setting up the printer. (Setup was well-explained in the manual; however, we needed the printer's MAC address in order to allow it on our router/network and that was not part of the setup instructions. Once we found it, setup was smooth sailing.) The print quality is great on both printer and copier. Copier is slightly less "clean" on the edges, but I think that's true of most copiers and it still produces a nice, crisp copy. The difference is barely noticeable. Color copies are very true to original, in my opinion. The MX870 is fast and works nicely on duplex setting. Ink cartridges are very small, so I am anxious to see how many prints I can get out of the cartridges before needing to replace them. The unit is large, but manageable. I recommend taking note of size specifications and measuring the area you plan to keep it in. It's bigger than it looks in the pictures. So far I have yet to use the scanner and fax properties. Will update this review when I've had it longer and can attest to these issues. POSTED AT FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 03, 2010 578 COMMENTS Great product, lousy set up process Brother HL-2170W 23ppm Laser Printer with Wireless and Wired Network Interfaces This is a nice, budget-friendly laser printer with a lot of networking options. Unfortunately, setting these options up with the included software is a royal pain. I have a simple wireless home network with a Linksys router and two laptops, and it took me 6 hours to get the printer working properly, mainly because I foolishly followed the included documentation and setup software. If setting up your printer near your router, ignore the wireless network option and go straight for the wired network. After 6 hours, I could not get the wireless and wired options to work because the driver setup would not detect the printer. I read online an alternate way to set up using the wired network, and it worked perfectly.
For those interested in buying this printer for a simple wireless setup like mine, you'll save yourself some headache by installing the BRAdmin Light program included on the driver CD and running it to ensure it detects the printer. Plug your printer into your router using an ethernet cable. You should then be able to install the drivers using the wired network option and providing the IP for the printer (can be found using the BRAdmin program). This works on XP and Vista. I never did get the completely wireless setup to work, but since my printer is right next to the router, I really don't need to. Print speed is decent, the monochrome print quality is good, and the compact size is nice. No autoduplex though, which is to be expected at this price. I also found generic high yield toner cartridges for about $20 after shipping on , so all in all, its a good pickup. POSTED AT TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 07, 2010 103 COMMENTS IMAH FIRIN MAH LAZOR!!!!!! 50mw 532nm Astronomy Green Laser Pointer This is an amazing laser!!! And even better for the price! Out of the box it cannot burn anything and it generates almost no heat. It doesn't seem to have many defects if any others besides a wobbly button and a less-than-smooth screwing-in and unscrewing process when changing the batteries. One thing to look for is the focus on the laser itself, because It seems to very slowly decline in quality after about 2-4 hors of use. It can be readjusted with a little work though! Very nice quality, and works great in daytime and simply spectacular at night! 1 - 4053 |
