Fable III Collector's Edition POSTED AT THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 02, 2010 18 COMMENTS Sounds Like Old Stuff Again Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty Even if they made some upgrade around the game for the building system and new units it still the same old game, You can easily see the same concept used in Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos. Batlle Net System is the major asset from this game. They made their upgrades for it and which render playing online the most valuable choice. The Campaign storyline is great but that's all stuff I've seen before from them. Clearly they made this game for the 90s, not sure you can really improve any RTS. By playing this I think I know that RTS game for me are over, I thought it would be different with Starcraft 2 but it's not. Graphics are still very cartoon like World of Warcraft except a few extra shade upgrade and animation in cutscene are the worst.
Starcraft 2 is not and won't be for me the game of the year, there are far greater games and companies out there that prove themself for us. Halo Reach Limited POSTED AT WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 08, 2010 2 COMMENTS Still the best hockey video game but not that different from previous version NHL 11 EA Sports is perhaps the best sports series out there on video game consoles; it does the popular Madden titles and other sports such as hockey. EA's NHL series is an excellent one, it gives the action of hockey in a game and makes it fun and precise and the series won many awards and is generally considered the best video game hockey franchise (rivaled only by 2K). For years EA provided gamers with great yearly edition of hockey and only made the game better and better. NHL 11 is exactly like that except there is not as much new content as you'd imagine there might be. GM mode did not change much, they only added one or two new option and Be A Pro mode is not all that different either. The on-ice upgrades they did (like new faceoffs, better checking and broken sticks)definitely add something to the already solid gameplay.
NHL 11 offers a few changes and some interesting modes but I don't feel like it's enough, for this reason some fans of the franchise might be disappointed with it as there is not enough of a change in 11. It's not that different from the past year's edition, NHL 10, and even 09 is pretty close to it. EA stuck and played it safe with a winning formula but added a few things to improve the game overall. I must say I do like the additions EA made to the game this year, they make it more realistic (for example the broken sticks) and add to the experience. The same modes are present with little more content; the game is basically the same as the past version on that point, only online has anything different. Ultimate team is a nice online mode but can be complicated to figure out (similar to the Madden franchise's Ultimate Team except with hockey where you can try and build the "dream team"). It seems as if it's even the same graphics only the animations are considerably better. The real new content of the game lies in the gameplay, for instance the controls are improved significantly for the faceoffs (it's great), passes, you can now check high or low and you can jump over an opponent who's down on the ice. Defensive techniques are better and the deeke system feels much better. Those little upgrades are very noticeable and contribute in bringing the gamer a great hockey video gaming experience you can't fault EA Sports for that but you can criticize them for lacking new features. However those who own NHL 2010 may not think of this a more than just another yearly update in the series, there's probably not enough new content to keep you happy this time around so you might want to reconsider purchasing this right away and play it before you spend over 60$ for it, just my thought. When I first popped the game in and did the requirement player exercises and it looked like it was the same as the past versions (or even 09), that's how bad it was. If this is your first time buy for a hockey video game or if you have not bought any EA hockey title since a few years I would really recommend this to you. The improved controls help the game but NHL 11 lacks new features. Those who buy the new edition each year will probably want it regardless for the upgrades and the updated roster. If that's your case buy it now, if not wait until you try it otherwise you may regret your purchase. Don't get me wrong I'm a little upset about the lack of new content, a new mode would've been nice (not an online one, online is totally different) but I'll take it, EA's NHL 11 is the best NHL game out there. 4 stars Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep 1 - 2750 |
